Issue #3: What the heck is a "booru" and how can I use it to find monstergirl porn?
(Now with Monty Python references and harpy titties!)
Happy March! After consulting Substack’s TOS and confirming that they allow “depictions of nudity for artistic, journalistic, or related purposes” as long as it does not contain “depictions of sexual acts for the sole purpose of sexual gratification”… I think we can get away with having some tasteful nude pinups. As such, if you want to see Margarita here naked, all you need to do is keep scrolling down.
But first you gotta get past this month’s article:
Generally speaking, A booru is an extensively tagged archive of images which are collectively uploaded by its users. It’s similar to a type of wiki or imageboard.
The tagging system is generally what makes them so useful, as it allows you to easily find very specific kinds of pictures without a lot of the extra noise generated by a Google image search. As a game dev, I find booru sites to be invaluable for gathering references to communicate with my art team, as I can easily gather comparison pictures of characters in certain poses or outfits.
If you’re just using them for fun though, it’s a great way to easily browse fanart of a favorite character, find some hyper-specific art to borrow for a profile picture, or just find a bunch of pictures of your niche fetish to masturbate to. Hey, we don’t judge here, and actually, more of the websites listed in this article than not are geared towards that last thing. Speaking of, here’s a list of a few popular booru sites to get you started:
Danbooru - danbooru.donmai.us
Danbooru is the OG image booru. It’s where we get the term “booru” from in the first place. It’s focused solely on anime style art, and only accepts pieces above a certain ‘objective’ quality threshold. That basically makes it a curated collection of images, so while you might ‘miss out’ on a lot of the art that’s out there, it means you won’t have to sift through a bunch of crap to find what you actually want either.
Gelbooru - gelbooru.com
If you want something a little *less* curated, try Gelbooru. It’s got pretty much everything Danbooru has, and more, due to having more lax standards and a wider variety of styles and subjects accepted. (There’s even a bit of cosplay photography in there)
Safebooru - safebooru.org
And going in the opposite direction, if Gelbooru is a more lax Danbooru clone, then Safebooru is a stricter one, basically aiming to be Danbooru with all the porn filtered out of it, hence the name. If you’re strictly looking for SFW images this is probably the site on this list you’ll want to use.
e621 - e621.net
This one is a booru style site for the furry community, so it’s mostly filed with art of anthropomorphic animals, but they do allow any non-human including “traditional” monster races like say… goblins as well as aliens and such. So, it’s still a good place to find monstergirl art if you filter for it.
Rule34.xxx - rule34.xxx
A website named after the infamous 34th rule of the internet: “If it exists, there is porn of it. No exceptions.” While most of the previous websites have a lot of porn, they’re still generally designed as general art archives. This one is explicitly *for* porn. Of anything. And everything. Well almost, there’s still rules. Nothing illegal after all. But it’s still the most general with the most lax overall rules of the rest of the booru sites on this list. So if you’re looking for something outside the focus of the other sites this one is your best bet.
Rule34.paheal - rule34.paheal.net
Okay, yeah, this is confusing. another site named after rule 34. “.xxx” and “.paheal” are two completely different sites, with different owners, a different community and some different features, despite both having a lot of overlapping content, with a similar design and of course, both being based on the booru format/software.
The key difference is their content rules and their owner’s actual interpretation of “rule 34”.
The short of it is, that “.paheal” is mainly intended as a fanart repository, for porn of inherently nonpornographic IP. They generally disallow things like non-canon fan character art or series where the original media was pornographic to begin with. As well as some stricter rules about what constitutes porn to begin with, (If it doesn’t have full frontal nudity or penetration, they don’t really want it.) while “.xxx” is a lot more lax on the rules on most fronts.
Just like with Danbooru vs Gelbooru, the more narrow focus may actually be a boon to you if you’re looking for a specific type of content so which one is actually “better” may be up to your needs at the time.
And of course, there are dozens and dozens more image boorus floating around the internet, but these 6 are some of of the biggest ones, and all of them are great for finding monstergirl art, hence their relevance to this newsletter.
Now, to get the most use out of these sites, you’re going to want to take advantage of the tagging system. For starters, it’s already useful to be able to narrow down your search to a specific combination of tags (You need a picture of a redhead in a bodysuit holding a gun? No problem!) but remember you can also *exclude* tags, which can be particularly helpful if you’re really picky or some really popular character is clogging up the search. Need a picture of a frog girl that *isn’t* Froppy from Boku No Hero Academia? You can exclude the tag for either the series or the character and filter them all out. On Danbooru (and most other sites) you simply need to put a - before the keyword you want to exclude.
For whichever site you’re using, make sure you check out the tag and/or search guides for more specific instructions on how to use that site’s search operators or special specific tags.
Psyk323 is a freelance concept artist who has designed a frankly *staggering* number of robot girls. Actually *robot* looking girls and not just the “human with a couple lines on their skin” type of android. And there’s a few other kinds of monster girls thrown in there for spice as well:
This month’s nude centerfold pin-up comes from “The Little Black Bestiary: My Sweet Margarita”, a short free digital picturebook you can read for free on Newgrounds.
This month’s mix is… literally just the soundtrack for “My Sweet Margarita.” Since it’s on theme and gives me an opportunity to be lazy. As a single track, it’s more or less a reggaeton-ish latin pop kinda thing with a brief interlude into some cheesy porno music thanks to a solo from Sexy Sax Man.
The Three Charms by Minwa is quite possibly one of the best games you can buy for just a dollar. Well, that might be a bit of a marketing ploy since it’s the first game in a trilogy and the two sequels cost more than that, but they’re all still pretty cheap and well done games on the whole.
Anyway, The plot is about a pacifist monk who travels into the mountains where yokai live, so he can train to become an exorcist. And then things get increasingly more complicated from there.
The series has a fairly unique battle system, in that they are all about running away from your enemies rather than beating them up. Instead of attacking, you use your skills to get more distance from your opponent, manage your stamina, and use spells to try to counter their own attempts to (sometimes literally) trip you up. And as is tradition in many of these games, if you fail and get captured, prepare to get fucked into submission by cute monstergirls.
Alfie is a long-running webcomic (Well over 1000 pages and counting!) about a halfling girl who longs to leave her tiny, repressed village and go see the world. It has deep, well written characters, and a whole lot of fucking.
Question: My neighbor has the most annoying hellhound that he keeps in his yard. Its heads are always barking and his place smells like burnt grass. How do I get him to keep that thing under control?
Signed,
Dogged On Dove Street
Answer:
So if there’s anything I know about hellhounds, it’s that they were bred to be subservient. Guardians and hunters, sure, but they always cave to enough confidence like any good sub. They’re super tameable for how crazy they look. I’m not one to throw the term “beta as fuck” around, but the owner probably doesn’t care or doesn’t try enough to keep it in line. You, on the other hand, can pull that off surprisingly easily.
So your best move is to establish dominance on the hound. Not in the gross way! Though this also works pretty well on tall girls…
Just don’t flinch when it barks or makes a move at you. They count on you to jerk away, which shows you’re intimidated and weak. Maybe even hostile. Just make eye contact, and move calm and confidently. Ideally, get yourself some of those charcoal treats they have at the store. Show him you’ve got a whole bag and only give him one. Suddenly, you’re a provider and you hold all the power over what it wants. Kind of like when I was hooking up with that really subby oni and would order us pizza afterward. I was hand-feeding her too, but that was mostly because she was really into pet play… so this might be EXTRA appropriate.
It’s really that easy! And if you’re short enough like with me and my one aunt’s hound, you can even make it let you ride on its back. If the owner doesn’t like it messing up its own lawn, they shouldn’t mind you teaching it some manners and joyriding it around your yard for some exercise.
