Hello everyone! We just hit 200 subscribers and I’d like to thank you all for the support! It takes a while to build up a blog/newsletter like this, plus I’m still getting a feel for what kind of content to present.

I was working on a how-to guide on commissioning art from freelance artists (Fuck yeah, custom Monstergirl art!) but, 15 pages in (Yeah, 15!) I realized it’s actually a pretty in-depth topic since I wanted to cover everything from setting reasonable quality expectations for different budget brackets, how to find and vet good artists, explaining different options for payment methods and so on. Basically, it needs a little more time to cook in the oven so I’m going to finish and release the guide in September. Be sure to subscribe if you don’t want to miss it!

So in the meantime, I decided to write a little blurb about Skeb. Check that out below.

Oh, and also I decided to test the waters a bit on Subsack features and recently opened up paid subscriptions. I just want to make sure to let you all know that I currently have NO paywalled content or plans to implement any, so you won’t get any special benefits for paying and it should be considered a tip/donation. If I do get any tips I plan to use them to make new content for the newsletter, Mainly commissioning artists for cover and “centerfold” art.

Website of the month: skeb.jp

Skeb is a website that makes it very easy to commission Japanese artists. It’s designed to simplify the whole process by skipping a lot of the back and forth communication or other logistics that normally go into a commission. The process is pretty much just: Select artist, post request, pay money, wait, get art.

Because of the way it works, there’s a few built in ground rules: all requests are personal/non-commercial use only, no revisions are allowed and all info about your request needs to go into a single post. (And if you’re posting in English, make sure to use simple, slang free language that DeepL translator can handle) But when all is said and done, it’s a simple way to commission art, so long as you’re not too picky about the final outcome and are willing to allow some artistic freedom to the artist.

By the way, the cover art I used for issue #2 was actually a skeb commission drawn by this user. My request was to “Draw Noire from The Little Black Bestiary in a sexy swimsuit”

Cosplay of the month

Not the Bowsette cosplay you were expecting, huh?
Well, this pic is a preview from a paid cosplay photoset you can get here.

This month’s covergirl is Vivi the Zombie! Cover art by Monstralgam and the nude art/original character design is by SadFlowerHappy

Featured games:

Hentai Labyrinth

Hentai Labyrinth is a transformation themed game where you explore a sprawling dreamworld dungeon with your childhood friend. She’s a badass fighter with a giant sword and a /megaman-like ability to transform and copy powers from monsters she has sex with… and you have the mighty power to… throw rocks? Ah well. Well, that, and spanking your companion to trigger her transformations.

It’s a silly lighthearted adventure with a cutesy art style and a turn based JRPG style combat system. The game is now available in English on DLSite.

Succubus Prison

I’ve mentioned this one before, but it just recently got an official English release from Kagura Games, meaning it’s now got a decensor patch that removes the Japanese mosaic censoring on the sex scenes. (However the previous fan-translation by =Together is still arguably a better translation and has less bugs. Tradeoffs, I guess)

Anyway, as for the game itself, it’s pretty much an escape-the-room style puzzle where you’re trapped in a small suburban Japanese house with three succubi that want to drain you to death. And you’ll die, a LOT, while you figure out the solution.

Featured Artists:

渔大侠/@jiameyuu

Since I can’t read Chinese, I can’t really tell you all that much about this artist, but check out these sculptures!

They post their work and a lot of progress shots of the whole process of concept, modeling, sculpting and painting these statues. Pretty much the whole prototyping process these kinds of figures need to go through before being mass produced, so the pictures are interesting to look through.

Slugbox

Slugbox has many popular OCs. Here are three of them: Ctenophorae, Countess Lieucitessa Nosferamu, and Scleriteaeaeaggadah. Pictures are posted in that order. Do not ask me how to pronounce any of them.

He’s also a very prolific artist in general, drawing dozens of pics of his various OCs and still finding time to draw dozens and dozens more of other people’s OCs and various bits of fanart.

Okay, that’s all for this month. I got a special issue planned for next month that’s very on-theme for a specific special day next month. Let’s see if you can guess what it is. See you next time!

Forgot that "next month" means August and got mildly hyped for a pregnancy-themed Labor Day issue...

(My guess is Girlfriends Day, but International Left-Handers Day is there in my heart.)
